Four students in the Department of Mathematical Sciences of the School of Sciences who did the University proud by emerging 2nd in the 10th National Mathematical Competition for University Students (NAMCUS 2018) have formally presented their prizes to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape. Ibraheem R won a gold medal, Babatunde H. A. got a silver medal while Samuel E. R. and Dike D. D. won a bronze medal each. They were led by Dr Babatope Omolofe and Mr. Ayodeji Afolabi.

This feat qualifies the students to represent FUTA and Nigeria in the International Mathematics Competition (IMC) organized by University College, London to be hosted by the American University in Bulgaria in July.
The Competition, an initiative of the National Mathematical Centre (NMC), Abuja is an annual event organized for students of higher institutions of learning to prepare them for the annual International Mathematics Competition (IMC).
The students proffered solutions to a pool of questions drawn from topics in Abuja.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape expressed his delight at the students’ achievement describing it as one of the many good fruits of his administration. He encouraged staff and students of the University not to relent in their efforts to make FUTA an enviable Institution locally and internationally.

Fuwape said students at lower levels in various Departments should be groomed for such competitions in the future.

Congratulations from TCDiary Crew.
