SHARE YOUR REACTION: ASUU Suspends Nationwide Strike After 3 Months

190

The news of the suspended industrial action of the Academic Staff Union of Universities which has dragged on for 3 months has left students with bittersweet emotions.

While some are happy with the news, some aren’t.

Most of the students who had secured jobs (part-time or full-time) aren’t too excited about the news, as it would mean they would have to quit their jobs.

Some are happy, as they have had series of boring and uneventful days following the commencement of the Strike action.

Most of the students in the Medical field have exams coming up immediately the elections are over, so this has left them conflicted.

Others just aren’t ready for the school stress yet.

How has the news of the strike suspension left you?

  1. Kudos to both ASUU and the FG for resolving this crisis. Though the action shouldn’t have happened in the first place, if only the FG had lived up to its agreement, but I salute the government for engaging ASUU from the start of the strike till its suspension. I just hope the FG will this time around not renege on its agreement, as that will surely lead us back to square one. Kudos to students also for being patient with both ASUU and the FG, but In the end as much as they’re at the receiving end, they will be the major beneficiaries of the largesse that’ll come for the revitalization of Universities.

  2. I really appreciate the FG and ASUU for reaching to a conclusion that led to the call off of the strike. The strike really made alot of student sit at home doing nothing while few of the student engaged themselves in an Apprenticeship job(Computer Training,Catering,Mechanics, make up etc),My advice to those who have engaged themselves is they should always go back to the job whenever the school is on break. The strike was embarked on 4th November 2018 and call off 7th February 2019, i once again thank them for the call of which made our Nigerian youth hav a future.
