Vice-Chancellor, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Professor Michael Ologunde, has inaugurated on behalf of Senate of the University, a thirteen member caretaker committee comprising best student in each faculty and Commandants of para military groups to interface between Management and Students pending when the crisis rocking the Students’ Union is resolved.
The committee to be chaired by Olabiyi Olamide Anthony, has been saddled with duties which include principally, ensuring of peace on the University campuses, is to pursue all legal means of maintaining stable academic calendar and the promotion of culture of learning and character among students.
Other members of the committee are: Oyebamiji Akande Jamal,
Odetola Nasifat Olajumoke, Adeleke Theophilus Adekunbi,Idowu Oluwatola Paul, Adelowo Oluwatimileyin, Ajayi Lawrence Oluwafunmibi, Akano Ademola Mojeed, Oyedele Malik Adetunji, Abiola Mijeeb Olufunsho, Adediran Ibukun Adebisi, Ajayi Oluwadamilola Temitope, Ilori Abiodun Timilehin, and Olabiyi Olamide Anthony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Ologunde admonished the new student leaders to maintain constant link with the Dean of Students’ Affairs and the faculty deans as a way of keeping Management abreast of whatever challenges that may confront them rather than resort to self help that may be inimical to progress of the Institution.
While reminding them that it was unlawful to belong to any unregistered political group while on campus, he reiterated that “We won’t fold our arms and watch our students kill and maim themselves all in the name of being politically mobilized.
In his acceptance address on behalf of other members of the Committee, Olabiyi Olamide Anthony assured Management of their resolve to carry out their assignment with all vigor at their disposal, while not allowing it tamper with their academic engagements.
